Whether you know it or not, the Android Market has hit a very cool milestone just recently. According to my Source, the Android Market now has over 500,000 available applications on the Market.
This is incredibly speedy growth. At the beginning of 2011, there were about 16,000, and it grew to 30,000 in exactly three months. It was projected that by the end of this year, there would be 100,000 applications, which means expectations have been exceeded by 500 percent.
Those numbers are pretty impressive, especially when one considers that iOS has 600,000 applications, and that is after 4 years?
According to my Source, the higher number of Android applications may have to do with the number of apps per publisher. The average Android publisher has about 6 on the market, while an iOS publishers average at 4.
This growth is really exponential, and I’m not certain that I want to guess what it will be by 2012.
