Brostache: Geico proves that people use their smartphones for dumb things

Have you seen that Geico ad where the announcer states “Could switching to Geico save you 15 percent or more on car insurance? Do people use their smartphones for dumb things?”

The scene is then shown in an office where a man uses his phone to open up a bottle of virtual champagne, another uses it for instrument, and the other guy uses Brostache.

Brostache is a simple app that allows the user to put their Android phone in front of their mouths and imitate someone with a big mouth and mustache. Somehow, the application picks up your voice and makes the virtual mouth flap. And that is all that it is.

Brostache is actually made by Geico, which is why it is the only “dumb” app called by name on the Geico ad. I suppose the ad is one big ad for Brostache, like the movie The Wizard was one big ad for Nintendo. At least the application is free and available here.
