By now, you have hopefully learned of an application known as Google Goggles. I can best describe it as a visual search engine. If you take a picture, it goes into a search of what it “sees”.
Results might be sketchy for matching images, but if Google Goggles takes a picture of a work of art, it will give you all the information for it. I once found a dollar bill with a Silver Certificate stamp on it. I took a picture of it with Google Goggles, and discovered that it was worth: one dollar.
If you go to the Android Market and get an Update for Google Goggles, you will discover that it will link with your camera. Before, if you wanted to take a picture with Google Goggles, you would have to open up a separate program from your camera.
I tried it out, and it works really well. At first I thought it didn’t work, or I took a picture of something so ordinary that Google Goggles wouldn’t have searched for it. As it turns out, Google Goggles recognized the logo of Office Depot in the photo, and I got a lot of info on Office Depot.
It is something to at least try out, and I recommend getting the update. However, it only works on Android phones running version 2.1 or higher.
