Yahoo has finally decided to join the Android race. It has released a bandwagon of apps for the most popular of its services including Yahoo Mail, Yahoo Search and Yahoo Messenger. These apps are all available from the Android Market right now.
Yahoo has been late in releasing these apps and is trying to enter a market, a platform, which Google owns, and controls at large. Let us see how Yahoo fares up to this competition.
Yahoo Messenger
Yahoo Messenger is the flagship Yahoo chat client and is extremely popular all over the world. It was the first most popular chat client and people who switched from the good old IRC to it have enjoyed it thoroughly. The Yahoo messenger app on Android will be the most popular of these three.
The new Messenger app allows users to update their personal status and view friends status updates and chat with them. It also allows us to send chat messages via SMS and pictures taken through the camera. The app supports emoticons and can easily multitask working in the background.
Yahoo Mail
Once again, Yahoo Mail needs no introduction. Almost everyone in this world has known and used Yahoo Mail. It is the best alternative to Google’s Gmail and was the de-facto ruler in ail services before Google came in.
With the Yahoo Mail app, you can send, receive, search and manage mails into labels and folders.
Yahoo has officially entered the world of Android with this release and this attempt will aim at bringing back Yahoo’s lost charm. Get these apps from the Android market and try them out today.

I don’t actually use Yahoo! but I’d be more inclined to try it now and any progress on the Android platform gives me multiple fangasms.
